Favourite Thing Friday #2: Beauty Blender

3 Jan

This week’s edition of Fave Thing Friday is dedicated to the Beauty Blender. What is the Beauty Blender you ask? Probably the most expensive piece of sponge you will ever buy. But a b-e-a-uuuutiful piece of sponge at that. (It retails for around $30).

The BB is a small egg shaped sponge that expands when wet and reduces back to its original size when dry. It is to be used to apply makeup instead of brushes, fingers, or normal non-magical sponges. Since it is washable, it should last you a long time.

To use the BB:

1. Wet the BB under the tap

2. Put a pea-sized amount of foundation on your hand and dab the BB into it

3. Dab the BB all over your face. Do not rub. Works best if you “dab and roll”….i.e., dab and when you lift off your skin lift off from left to right.

So why is this method supposedly better? It’s tried and tested by yours truly, ladies. Say goodbye to cakey makeup! (Man, I sound like an infomercial don’t I!?). The sponge ensures your makeup goes on light and airy.

Biggest tip of all – you absolutely must wash your BB regularly. It absorbs extra makeup and thus needs to be squeezed and cleaned under water with soap or makeup brush cleaner after each use.

Have you tried the BB before?
