Favourite Thing Friday #7: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

14 Feb

Hourglass is an amazing beauty company. It is higher end and situated at the back of Sephora, so unless you venture past the cash you likely have missed it. But leave it to me – I found them! They are best known for two of their products – the Hourglass Veil Primer (which I blogged about here) and their line of Ambient Lighting Powders.

This Favourite Thing Friday edition is about their Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. I went for a makeup trial at Sephora last year and the makeup artist used it on me. Hello perfect blush/highlighter/lighting powder – all in one! It was love at first sight for me. This line of powders is meant to be used as a finishing product, and is supposed to change the way light deflects off your face (basically softening it).

I have fair-ish skin with red undertones so I stay away from blush on a daily basis. The Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light is a neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections. It is the perfect amount of blush for the apples of my cheeks, but is also meant to be used as a highlighter – think bridge of your nose, high cheekbones, and temples.

The rest of the line is as follows, and caters towards all other types of lighting you may want to achieve:

Ethereal Light: A sheer, cool tone that eliminates shine and mimics a moonlit glow—even in broad daylight.

Diffused Light: A soft, warm, pale yellow that reduces redness, eliminates shine, and gives skin clarity.

Mood Light: A soft, sheer lavender pink that mimics the softest, most forgiving light and brightens the complexion.

Luminous Light: A champagne pearl that creates a soft, incandescent candlelit glow—day or night.

Radiant Light: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth.

So next time you are in Sephora, take a walk to the back of the store and check out this line. I promise you will be impressed! (No, Hourglass is not paying me to say all this….although they should).
